WINDOWS ME SETUP

1. Double-click on the icon named My Computer.

2. Double-click on the folder named control panel.

3. Double-click on the folder named Dial-Up Networking.

4. If you have an old ISP icon listed in the Dial-Up Networking, it is recommended that you
right-click on it and delete it. If you want to keep your old ISP dial-up settings, then make
sure to set DCTexas as the default connection.

5. Double-click on the Make New Connection icon.

6. Enter DCTexas for the name of the computer you are dialing.

   **Very Important**

Make sure the "Select a device" drop-down box is selected on the correct modem that is
attached to your computer. DO NOT use Microsoft VPN. Usually there will only be
one modem listed in the drop-down list. If you do have more than one modem listed, and
you can't connect, you might have to go thru this setup again and try selecting the other modems.

    Click next.

7. Enter the area code and DCTexas dial-up number which we will provide to you.
If you do not know the DCTexas dial-up number, please call (866) DCTEXAS
    for assistance.

    Click next.

8. You have now successfully added a DCTexas connection to your computer.

    Click finish.

9. Use your right mouse button to right-click once on the DCTexas icon
within Dial-Up Networking. Go down to Properties and left-click once.

10. In this General settings box, make sure the checkbox named
"Use area code and dialing properties" is Unchecked.

11. Then click on the tab at the top named Networking.

Inside this screen, the only settings that should be checked are
      "Enable Software Compression" and  "TCP/IP".

Double-check that these settings are correct before continuing.

12. Then click on the tab at the top named Dialing.

Inside this screen, make sure "This is the default Internet connection" is checked.

Also make sure "Always dial my default connection" is selected.

      Click OK.

13. Right-click again on DCTexas and go down to Create Shortcut, then left-click.

14. When it asks do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead, answer Yes.

This will create a shortcut to DCTexas on your desktop.

Click on the X at the top right-hand corner to exit out of Dial-Up Networking.

15. Look on your windows desktop (main windows screen)
for a shortcut to DCTexas that looks like this.

       Double-click on it.

16. Enter your username and password in the boxes & verify the dial-up number is correct.
(Remember that your password is case-sensitive. UPPER and lower case matter!)
      Click Connect.

That's it, after your modem dials and connects you will be online!

17. In the future when you want to connect to the Internet, look on your
windows desktop (main windows screen) for a shortcut to DCTexas
      that looks like this.

       Double-click on it.

       Click Connect.

Hang in there, just a few more steps, and we'll be finished.
The last step is to setup your Internet Explorer so it will connect to the Internet.

18. Double-click on the icon named Internet Explorer.

19. Up at the top of the screen, left-click once on Tools, then go down to Internet Options
      and left-click once again.

20. This should bring up an Internet Options window.

Under the home page section of this screen, type in www.dctexas.net as the home page address.

21. Up at the top of the screen, left-click once on Connections. In the middle of the screen
there should be a white box with Dial-up settings listed in it. Make sure "DCTexas" is the
only connection listed in this box. If there are other connections, left-click once to highlight
the extra connection, then left-click once on Remove.

Below the Dial-up settings box, there are 3 options. Make sure "Always dial my default
connection" is selected. If the DCTexas (above in the white box) does not have (Default)
listed beside it, then click once on the "set default" button.

22. Now relax and take a deep breath, you are finished!
