
WINDOWS 2000 SETUP
To begin, please be sure you are logged in as the computer Administrator, or a user with administrative rights. If you are unsure of how to do this, please contact your network administrator, or read the online technical support that came with Windows 2000. First, make sure all programs are closed, and all active modem connections are terminated.
To start the setup of DCTexas on Windows 2000 navigate to My Computer ->
Control Panel.
In Control Panel, click on the Network and Dial Up Connections icon.
Once in the 'Network and Dial-up Connections' folder, double-click on 'Make New Connection'. This process will start the Network Connection Wizard. If this is your first time setting up a connection, Windows 2000 will prompt your for your 'Location Information'. Please fill out this section accurately for your area code and dialing information. If you need a dial up number in your area code click here to search the database.
Click 'OK' when finished.
Next, you
will need to accept the new configuration information by clicking 'OK' in the
'Phone And Modem Options'.
The 'Network
Connection Wizard' will guide you through the process of creating a connection.
Click 'Next >' to start the configuration.
Next, select
'Dial-up to the Internet (Connect to the Internet using my phone line [modem
or ISDN])'. Click 'Next'.
This will
start the 'Internet Connection Wizard'. Select the last option 'I want to set
up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area
network (LAN). Click 'Next'.
Next, select
'I connect through a phone line and a modem' under 'Setting up your internet
connection'.
If you have already installed a modem on your computer continue on to the next section. Otherwise you will need to let Windows 2000 auto-detect your modem. You may be prompted for your modem driver disk, or installation files. Please check your modem manufacturers website for Windows 2000 specific drivers. Click 'Next >' to start the 'Add/Remove Hardware Wizard'. If you need support or drivers for your mode, please contact them for technical support.
The "Internet Connection Wizard" will continue to setup your Everyones
Internet® dial-up connection. On 'Step 1 of 3: Internet account connection
information' you will be required to enter a phone number. To find a list of
phone numbers in your area, click here and choose a phone number that is a local
call for your line. Click 'Next' to continue to step 2 of 3.
On 'Set
2 of 3: Internet account logon information' you will need to enter your username
and password. Your username and password must be entered exactly how they were
given to you. Once you have completed this section, click 'Next'.
'Step 3
of 3: Configuring your computer' enter DCTexas' under 'Connection name:'. Click
'Next' to continue.
Your computer is now ready to connect to the Internet using your DCTexas account. All setting should be configured properly by Windows 2000 automatically. If you would like to setup your mail account using Outlook Express select 'Yes', otherwise select 'No'. Click 'Next >' to continue. If you clicked 'Yes' to set up Outlook Express, please continue with the configuration. Otherwise click 'Finish'.
To
connect to your DCTexas account, go to Start -> Network and Dial-up
Connections... and in there will be your DCTexas icon. Type in your username and
password, then click connect. You are now connected with DCTexas.
